More Hiking

Shelly and I went on another little Sunday hiking/road trip a week ago. This time we decided to drive up to Crown King, Arizona. It's an old mining town between Phoenix and Prescott. Tiny little town with not much but a Bar and Saloon (it actually claims to be Arizona's oldest saloon and brothel), a general store known for the Crown King fudge they make, a volunteer fire station, and some wood cabins. We went for a hike on a nice trail up there. Then we went back to the saloon (I do say "back" as we of course visited there for a pre-hike beer and bloody mary) and had some beers and watched the football game with the locals. Good times. On the way back, we ran into this alive rattlesnake in the road and this cow near Cleator, Arizona. By the way, Cleator is this tiny town- maybe two houses and a bar. I took a picture of one of the houses below.

Never been here but I don't think I would have wanted to see that snake. Great pics!

Lori,
I stopped in that bar at Cleator [it's a million miles from anywhere]. The owner came running out when I walked into the street carrying my beer - apparently he was worried the police might suspend his license. Police, what police?
