Phlock on

So the Brown family and friends were in true form on Tuesday night for the Buffett concert. Great night!
Great story: So Dustin, Sarah, and I were stuck in traffic on the way to the concert (very eager to get there as all the others were already there, drinking in the parking lot, enjoying music and BBQ, etc). We were at an almost dead stop in rush hour, when Sarah notices two guys peeing behind one of the freeway ramp posts. All the sudden, traffic starts moving very slowly and we see the guys start running for their car. Even though we felt like we weren't moving, we were still going faster than they were running. Such a sight to see- two men, running down the side of one of the busiest freeways in Phoenix, drunk, while their friends were hanging out of the car yelling "run, run." I love it.

See ya Ace!

Being a fellow PCV (Peace Corps Volunteer) with me, I am quite sad to see Geoff Gursel, I mean Ace Young, get kicked off the show. Best of luck to you buddy. And hey, if the singing thing doesn't work, you always have the barefoot hunting skills to fall back on.

Bone-Up

So I'm pretty new to this whole climbing thing, but I'm pretty sure these guys are gay.

A selection from their journal entry:

"It's Friday evening now, and I'm on the telephone with Jim FIRMING up our plans for a day of climbing tomorrow. There will be a full moon tomorrow night, so Jim suggests Weavers Needle is the place to go because we can hike out in the MOONLIGHT without headlamps (we need a full moon since we never get an early enough start to finish any outing by sundown, let alone this classic with its eight mile roundtrip approach). I immediately argue that because of my still-tender big toe (injured when Jim and I did the Classic at Granite Mountain months earlier), there is no way I can tough the Weavers Needle approach, unless, "YOU WANT TO CARRY ME". Jim is easily dissuaded, so we agree on the "Crying Dinosaur", just inside Siphon Draw on the west end of the Superstition Mountains.

Actually, we've been wanting to do this climb for most of a year, and had studied the guide book on more than one occasion to BONE-UP on the route...."

Dustin and I are going to Bone-Up on this route tomorrow. It should take about 15 minutes.
